Stay Safe

Cracker Safety Tips

Fireworks are meant for joy — a few precautions keep the celebration safe for everyone.

Adult Supervision

Always burst crackers under the supervision of an adult. Never leave children unattended near crackers.

Open Outdoor Space

Burst crackers only in open, outdoor areas away from buildings, dry leaves, vehicles and overhead wires.

Wear Cotton Clothing

Prefer cotton clothes over synthetic fabric, which can catch fire easily. Avoid loose or flowing garments.

Keep Water Nearby

Always keep a bucket of water or a wet cloth close at hand in case of an emergency.

Maintain a Safe Distance

Light one cracker at a time and step back immediately. Never bend over a cracker after lighting it.

Never Relight a "Dud"

If a cracker doesn't go off, don't go near it. Let it sit for at least 20-30 minutes before disposing of it in water.

Wear Proper Footwear

Always wear closed footwear while bursting crackers — never light crackers barefoot or in sandals.

Safe Storage

Store crackers in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, flames and other heat sources.
